On the day that we did music for this wedding, I (Shirley) had already gone over the timeline with the bride over the phone and finalized music selection.
This timeline states what music is happening when. I do not plan on giving direction to the actual ceremony because I go in assuming this is worked out.
This day, those details were not worked out and I had to think fast. Knowing what I knew about the bridesmaids, groomsmen, bride, and groom I went to work.
This was particularly challenging because it is close to the observatory. Because of the observatory, I couldn't research because there is no cell service or wifi. Because of the lack of technology, DJ Gary P needed an extensive music library.
I went purely by movie memory, Father of the Bride specifically. The flower girl (dog named Trouble) was first. Then, the bridesmaid and groomsmen.
The groom was already by the officiant waiting for the bride. The beautiful bride walked down the isle and said "I do."
I rushed to the music equipment so I could introduce the bridal party. The flower girl was a dog named Trouble. "Ladies and gentleman, It is my honor to introduce to you, the most important person at this wedding!"
My husband cued up Taylor Swift, (I knew you were trouble when you walked in...) "The flower girl Trouble!" That song was a huge hit that evening.
As I said we had challenges, not having internet was a huge one. We overcame those challenges and I think it made for something that will always be remembered.
I now know that there is a possibility that I may need to direct the ceremony. I am absolutely going to prepare for that sort of thing. No such thing as being too prepared right?
